It will be explaining if what the CBP do is effective and how so. Also it will be explaining how they prevent terrorist attacks and how they work with other law enforcement agencies. They have many duties and responsibilities to do to protect the United States of America. They†¦show more content†¦The officers go through training for 20 weeks with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, in Glynco, Georgia. They are trained basic law enforcement skills such as Anti- Terrorism, Detection of Contraband, Interviewing, Cross Culture Communications, Firearms Handling and Qualification, Defense Tactics, Arrest Techniques, and Officer Safety and Survival just to name a few. The Agriculture Specialist receives 8-12 weeks of training at the Professional Development Center in Fredrick, Maryland. Agriculture Specialist is station at international ports of entry at airports, seaports, and land borders throughout the United States and alongside the Canadian and Mexican borders. They h ave the authority to conduct random inspections of luggage or items entering the country and the power to seize prohibited or contaminated items. The Border Patrol agents go through a 55 day â€Å"Basic Academy† training at the â€Å"U.S. Border Patrol Academy† in Artesia, New Mexico. Their training includes topics on immigration, physical training, weapons and marksmanship. Most of the agents must know how to speak Spanish. This is just an example on the type of training that the CBP staff has to prepare them for any surprises and attacks on the United States. A market is defined by demand conditions and based on an organization’s customers and potential customers. Business level strategy is a means of separating out and formulating a competitive strategy at the level of individual business unit. This is sometimes referred to as a Strategic Business Unit (SBU). A Strategic Business Unit is a distinct part of an organization which focuses upon a particular market or markets for its products and services. The parent company sets the overall or corporate strategy. The role of the business unit is to devise a strategy which allows it to compete successfully in the marketplace and to contribute to the corporate strategy. GENERIC STRATEGY A sustainable competitive advantage is about performing different activities or performing similar activities in a different ways. In other words, the firm must be capable of producing value for the customer that is recognized as being superior to that of its competitors. Michael Porter (1980) developed three generic strategies to help an organization outperform rivals within an industry, and so successfully position itself against the five forces. These strategies are referred to as generic because they apply to different types of organizations in different industries. The first of these three strategies is called Overall Cost Leadership. A cost leadership strategy involves a firm being the lowest cost producer within the industry. This allows the firm to outperform the rivals within the industry because it can charge lower prices and its lowest cost base still allows it to earn profit. In effect, this firm can charge the lowest price within the industry which the rivals simply cannot match. Therefore, a cost leadership strategy allows the firm to make superior profits. A Differentiation Strategy is based on producing products or services which are perceived by the customers as unique or different. A differentiated product has the opportunity to meet different customer needs more closely. It is the difference that is the basis on which the customers are prepared to pay a premium price. Clearly, the cost of producing differentiation must not outweigh the price being charged. Or, put another way, customer should be prepared to pay a price which exceeds the costs of differentiation, thereby allowing the organization to earn superior profits. The third Strategy is referred to as a Focus Strategy. A Focus Strategy allows an organization to target a segment of niche within a market. The segment may be based on a particular customer group, geographical markets, or specific product lines. Unlike overall cost leadership and differentiation strategies which are industry-wide, a focus strategy is aimed at serving a particular target market efficiency. Bright new day Essay There were different aspects of the set which reflected the themes of the musical. There were rich and poor sides of the stage. The dirty and vandalised council house contrasted with the clean, white detached house with a balcony. It juxtaposes the two different houses as it emphases the huge contrast. The houses of Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Lyons were also very different on the inside aswell. Mrs Lyons house was very ornate with high ceilings which made it look very posh and grand. Mrs Johnstones house on the other hand was the total opposite. It was a small terraced council house with red brick and was a bit scruffy. She also mentioned in the play that all her furniture was from a catalogue. The showed the status of the of the different families very well. Flies, (part of the set) were flown in, for example a for sale sign which showed that many people were losing money, so they couldnt afford their mortgage, so they had to sell their house. When Mickey and Linda went back to a council estate the old back wall came down which resembled their old life coming back again. Their house had an old second hand chair in it and a picture drawn by their daughter in the kitchen. The lighting was also key in communicating to the audience the location and atmosphere. An example of this is the sunset at the end of the Johnstons life on the council estate followed by a sunny bright new day in the countryside. The lightning was very bright and yellow to symbolise the sign of hope and the new experience they were about to discover. At the beginning of the production red light was used. Red is the colour of anger and in most cases blood. So being used in that scene the lightning could represent the blood shed, also there were wavy lines so that could also be represented with blood. In the scene where Mrs Lyons was saying what she could offer Mrs Johnstones unborn child a gobo was being used of a flower pattern. The lighting colours were pinks and reds. It gave the impression that they were both looking through tinted flower spectacles. A gobo was also used when Linda visited Mickey in jail; it was in the shape of the jail bars. Aspects such as lighting and other special effects such as sound were used throughout the production to help create dramatic tension. One strong example when I felt really tense in the audience was the drug scene between Linda and Mickey. There were dramatic changes in the lighting and to red at one point. There was an increase in pace leading to the climatic moment then followed by silence, which really drawed the audience in. The atmosphere was very tense which was caused by the tense body language between the two characters on stage. Special effects were used right through the musical from when Eddie, Mickey and Linda were throwing stones when they were younger and you could hear the stones hitting the objects. They were also used when they all arrived at the countryside, the sounds of the birds and cows in the fields. At the end of the production special effects were also used when the gunshots were fired. Working in conjunction with all these aspects to create atmosphere and emotion was the music. Specific songs were used at key moments in the musical to emphasise a situation or emotion. The sad and emotional Tell Me Its Not True directly affected me. It was such a sorrowful song about a mother asking if it was real, that her two children had died. It was full of emotion and made the atmosphere very downcast and forlorn. I though the Blood Brothers was a fantastic musical and I would definitely like to see it again. I saw the play before at the Phoenix Theatre in London and I thought it was much better there than at the New Wimbledon Theatre. I think that was because of the compactness in the Phoenix.
